Madzokere Ditches SA Club For Dembare

Dynamos new recruit Byron Madzokere’s allegedly misled South Africa’s First Division side Moroka Swallows into preparing a contract for him, while at the same time signing a contract with Dembare last week.

Madzokere put pen to paper for Dynamos without informing his Zimbabwean agent, Butler Masango, who had negotiated the deal to sign for Swallows. The defender was under the care of Masango in South Africa for the better part of the festive season when he impressed the Moroka Swallows technical bench.

Swallows wanted to sign the defender but he was asked to clear with Yadah Stars first. He then left South Africa saying he wanted to get his clearance from Yadah only for him to go on and join Dynamos.

A disappointed Masango said Madzokere’s attitude could jeopardise his relations with Swallows.
“I was surprised to learn through the media that Byron had joined Dynamos. I am still in a state of shock,” said Masango.

“Moroka Swallows approached me to look for a good defender. I recommended Madzokere and I brought him to South Africa for a trial stint. Inside two days, the technical bench had been impressed by him.”

“He has the right stature, work ethic and is good on the ball. That is what they were looking for and they wanted to sign him immediately. However, he had to go back to Zimbabwe and get his clearance with his team, Yadah Stars.

“Before he went back to Zimbabwe, Madzokere had agreed personal terms with Swallows and while he was in Zimbabwe, the team was finalising his contract. To my surprise, I heard he has since joined Dynamos. He didn’t even call me to inform me of his decision or change of it.”

“It puts me in bad standing, my reputation as an intermediary, especially for Zimbabwean players, is at stake. I don’t even know what to tell Swallows at the moment. I think it is very bad for a player to act in such a manner he acted.”

Masango also revealed Madzokere had earlier failed to make the grade at another South African side, Free State Stars.

“He came here in December and I took him to my place before I arranged with Free State Stars to have a look at him as they wanted a centre-back. He went to Free State and stayed in a hotel for two weeks but the coach said he wasn’t impressed with him.”

“He came back to me and then I took him to Moroka Swallows and after two days their coach wanted to sign him. I was driving him almost 45km to Swallows for training and we agreed he must go and get his clearance from Yadah.”

“He went back to Zimbabwe and we were communicating and then, all of a sudden, I saw on Facebook that he signed for Dynamos. The person who stayed in my house, ate my food, that’s the thank you he gave me . . . His attitude is now making me to think twice about helping these Zimbabwean players.’’

Madzokere’s relationship with Yadah also ended under a cloud with the club questioning his professionalism. Masango suspects that is the reason why the player did not go to Yadah for clearance.

Mucherahowa Blasts Dembare Buying Spree

United Kingdom-based former Dynamos captain Memory Mucherahowa has attacked the club leaders for the current player-buying spree which he says is a consequence of the dearth of the club’s junior policy tradition.

Dynamos, who struggled to a ninth-place finish in the league last year, have been on an aggressive player recruitment drive which has seen the club bring in at least 11 new players in a bid to restore the glory day at the Harare giants.

The man, popularly known as Mwendamberi, who led Dynamos to the 1998 African Champions League final, castigated the Glamour Boys for abandoning the junior policy which was the heartbeat of the club from Independence until the early 2000s.

“It is a good thing that Dynamos is strengthening the team. I hope they will do well. My only worry is whether these players will cope with the demands of such a big institution,” the 50-year-old former captain said from his UK base.

“Dynamos used to rely on its junior policy and the youngsters would play in curtain raisers. By the time they graduated into the senior team, they would be aware of the demands of the team’s supporters.

“The fans knew their youngsters. They would form the core of the team with only one or two additions and not more than seven players,” he said.

Dynamos have so far signed 11 players, including Patson Jaure, Tanaka Chidhobha, Nkosi Mhlanga and Lennox Mutsetse early on in the transfer window.

The club also added Byron Madzokere, Tymon Mvula, Jeansmith Mutudza, David Temwanjira, Barnabas Mushunje, Tinotenda Chiunye and, lately, Sylvester K Appiah to the 2020 squad.

Coach Tonderai Ndiraya is looking to build a team that will compete for the Premier Soccer League title which the club last won six years ago.

However, Dynamos have made significant strides in trying to make sure that they revive junior football at the club as they now have a developmental side playing Division Two football.

“We had the generation of Kuda Muchemeyi, Shaw Handriade, Edward Katsvere, David Mandigora, then Clayton Munemo’s generation. We also had my generation followed by Simon Chuma’s and then Chamu Musanhu’s generation. We carried the Dynamos culture and got used to the fans’ demands before we graduated into the senior team,” Mucherahowa said.

Dembare To Bring In Two More Players

Dynamos FC Marketing And Public Relations Executive Tinashe Farawo has reiterated their full support for Coach Tonderayi Ndiraya in his quest to reposition the Glamour Boys at the summit of local football.

Dembare has undertaken a massive recruitment exercise that has so far seen 11 players joining the 21-time Zimbabwe champions. This, however, fuelled speculation among fans, media and observers that the Executive were hoarding players without the input of the coaching personnel.

With the first batch of new players being signed during the festive holidays when Ndiraya was away on holiday, speculation was rife that the Executive had panicked and were imposing players on Ndiraya.

However Ndiraya, on his return, was quick to give his seal of approval to everything the Executive was doing. Training commenced last Monday and most of the new players were available adding to Ndiraya’s bliss.

But Dembare are not done yet with Farawo revealing that Ndiraya still needs about 2 more strikers.

“We have been ticking the boxes and we are probably left with one or two strikers to complete our task. We are just working according to the list submitted by the coach and I think we are almost through with it,’’ said Farawo.

“I am sure the coach and his technical team are happy with what we have done so far because we have given them what they have asked for. The coach requested for the players, and we have given him the players, and we think we have delivered on our mandate. Now it’s left to him to work with the resources availed to him. This year should be our year. Our aim is to get to the top and play Champions League football again.’’

Farawo refused to divulge the 2 players left on their list, though it is believed Caps Utd speedy winger Phineas Bamusi is one of them.

But he took time to address fans’ concerns about the culture of acquiring many players each and every season, which used to be unheard of at Dembare.

“We are going to invest more into our development programme. That is why we have Dynamos age-group teams in our structures, and a Dynamos reserve side that is playing in the ZIFA Division Two league.

“We want it to be a big business enterprise, considering the huge potential that this team is sitting on. Dynamos is a club with a rich history, and that should reflect in every aspect.

“Almost every player dreamt of playing for Dynamos, but that hasn’t been the case, of late because of the mistakes of the past. The leadership is addressing those mistakes, and Dynamos will be a team of choice again in terms of winning trophies and marketing players abroad.’’

Dembare Off To Weekend Retreat

We have gathered that Dynamos FC players have left Harare for a weekend retreat in Norton/Darwendale. The Dembare bus departed soon after today’s training session.

An official who spoke to True Blue says the retreat, which will last until Sunday, is meant to create a bond among the players seeing as many of them are still new to the institution.

Dembare have been very busy on the local transfer market and have so far acquired a total of 11 players.

Notable absentees from the travelling party were goalkeeper Simba Chinani and striker Nigel Katawa who flew out to Russia last night for trials with an unnamed club.

Chief striker Evans Katema is in Zambia negotiating for a possible transfer. Defender Jimmy Tigere has quit football to stay with his family abroad.

The quartet of Godfrey Mukambi, Stephen Chimusoro, Edgar Mhungu and Philip Kaseke were released by the club after travelling to South Africa for a social match without the club approval.

Dembare Capture Ghanaian Appiah

Dynamos Football Club continued with their massive recruitment this afternoon with the acquisition of Ghanaian Sylvester Appiah.

His move was part of a busy afternoon for Dembare officials as they also facilitated the transfer of Tinotenda Chiunye from ZPC Kariba.

Appiah normally plays as a central defender but is also comfortable as a defensive midfielder.

Appiah is joining Dembare from ZPC Kariba where he has spent much of his time since coming to Zimbabwe. Infact, Appiah joined ZPC Kariba during the reign of Sunday Chidzambwa.

In 2018, he was named ZPC Kariba Player Of The Year.

Appiah is set to partner Partson Jaure in a new-look Central defence this season. Jimmy Tigere and Munyaradzi Mawadza did duty at CB last season. Tigere has since quit football to stay with his family abroad while Mawadza is still to know his fate from Ndiraya.

The player trained with Dynamos today at Hellenic Sports Club.

Welcome Gentle Giant to the Blue Family

Jaure Injured In Brawl

When Dynamos regrouped for training on Monday at Hellenic Sports Club, one notable absentee from the field of play was returning Glamour Boy Partson Jaure.

Jaure is making a return to Dynamos after a sojourn that took him to University Of Pretoria in South Africa, Ngezi Platinum and most recently Manica Diamonds.

Though Jaure was present at Hellenic, he sat out the whole duration of the session as other players shed off the off-season blues on the turf. The official line was that he was yet to recover from an injury sustained during his time at Manica.

But it did not escape the attention of observers that the Warriors defender had a slightly swollen face with a small bandage strip just above his left eye.

It has since emerged that the Warriors defender was injured in a brawl at a Harare leisure spot recently.

Jaure, who is a strong favourite to be handed the Captain’s armband this season, is believed to have been involved in a fist-fight with another reveler over a woman and sustained a head injury.

The extent of the injury is yet to be revealed but this misshap will surely not go down well with Coach Tonderayi Ndiraya who is banking on senior players like Jaure to lead his 2020 revolution at Chazunguza.

From Caps, To Kariba, Now At Dynamos

Tinotenda Chiunye has become the latest player to join Dynamos FC. The player nicknamed Kedha because of his complexion signed the Dembare contract at the club offices this afternoon.

He becomes Dembare’s 11th acquisition in this off-season as Coach Tonderayi Ndiraya overhauls a squad that he often berated for gross lack of quality last season.

Chiunye was immediately welcomed to the Blue family by officials Moses Shumba and Tinashe Farawo among others.

Last season Chiunye was at ZPC Kariba and his contract has since lapsed on the 31st of December 2019.
Before that he played for Caps Utd.

Welcome Glamour Boy Kedha to Chazunguza!

Mushunje Joins The Blue Trek

Former Ngezi Platinum Stars winger Barnabas Mushunje is now a Glamour Boy!

Mushunje (in white T-shirt) put pen to paper at the club offices and was immediately welcomed by Dembare officials present.

Mushunje did duty for Bulawayo Chiefs in the 2017 season. He then joined Mutare City in the middle of the 2018 season. Last season Mushunje played for Ngezi Platinum Stars.

He becomes Dembare’s 10th signing for the upcoming season as the club’s leaders fervently attempt to reposition the club on the apex of local football. Dembare has had disapponting sequence of seasons since capturing their last league title in 2014.

The capture of Mushunje and nine others has heightened excitement and belief among the Dembare faithful that this new season might bring back the good old times to them.

Welcome Barna!

In The Words Of Juan

“It has always been my dream to play for Dynamos Football Club and I am sure the club will get me where I want to be with my career.
I am happy for this new chapter, new challenge and new home everything is exciting and I am looking forward to a great season.

The big challenge now is being at the biggest club in the country, we all know the club demands a lot but I am going to do my best not to disappoint everyone especially the board and the fans.

I think to have such pressure at a club like DeMbare where fans are very demanding is good to every player and this will push me to perform well in every match.

And it’s going to be new because I have never played for a club with so many fans before and the people I’m going to be surrounded with but I’m going to handle it my way and do the best for the team.

I thank the Herentals board for being there for me for the past four years and also the coaches for believing in me. And I also want to salute my teammates for the work, love and good relationship getting the team into the PSL and remain there until now so I want to wish them good and a great 2020 season”
