DYNAMOS Football Club have become the latest high-profile local football club to join the fight against the novel coronavirus pandemic.

www.dembare.net

The Glamour Boys are set to release a Covid-19 awareness video next week.

Zimbabwe, along with most of the countries across the world, is in a national lockdown as authorities battle to contain the spread of the epidemic.

Several football clubs, including those in South Africa, have since launched initiatives aimed at fighting the pandemic.

And Dynamos have seen it fit to join forces with other international partners to battle the pandemic.

Team spokesperson, Tinashe Farawo (pictured) says the video is just the start of the vast awareness initiatives that they will be carrying out.

“The coronavirus epidemic is real and ought to be given the special treatment it deserves,” Farawo said.

“The fight against the disease is everybody’s responsibility. People have to support the authorities in fighting the epidemic.’’

“As Dynamos Football Club, we know that our business is solely dependent on a healthy society.’’

‘‘Our business has been impacted upon big time and we know that the sooner this is contained, the better for our business.’’

“This is one of the many reasons why we have decided to join hands with some partners to spread awareness about the epidemic.’’

“As we speak, we have already done a video jingle, which will be released next week. Our players, as well as other stakeholders, feature in that video. It’s all about awareness.”

Farawo said the team wouldn’t rush into doing any fund-raising initiatives but, instead, saw it fit to use their influence to spread the word.

“Our power is in numbers and, since we are one of the biggest teams in the world, this has driven us to choose the awareness route.’’

‘‘We are urging every member of society to play their role in complementing authorities’ efforts to stop the spread of the virus.’’

“Depending on the time the coronavirus scourge will be upon us, we will always revise our intervention strategies but, certainly, we have to play a role in the fight against the ailment.”

The Glamour Boys join rivals Highlanders, who have since launched a crowd-funding initiative aimed at raising funds for one of the coronavirus isolation centres in Bulawayo.

Bosso have already raised a significant amount. “The crowd-funding initiative is aimed at raising money to be given to one of Bulawayo’s coronavirus isolation centres.

‘‘We call upon people, and other football clubs, to join hands with us. Together, we will win the war against this pandemic,” said club spokesperson Ronald Moyo.

While Bosso are making progress, DeMbare have sought to play their role by carrying out awareness campaigns.

Videos of Dynamos players, including newboys Juan Mutudza and King Nadolo, talking about the scourge, have since gone viral after being uploaded on the team’s digital platforms.

The start of the 2020 Premiership season was postponed due to the pandemic.

Glamour Girl Advocate

So Advocate Fadzai Mahere is a staunch Dynamos fan.

The prominent lawyer and opposition activist revealed this in a Tweet yesterday where she posted a file photo of her flying the Dembare flag proudly.

She added a simple caption “Dembare”.

The Tweet elicited thousands of likes and responses from fellow Dembare fans, other teams’ fans and politicians alike.

Fadzai may have been looking forward to the start of the new football season that has however been shelved due to the ravages of the deadly Corona Virus.

“This Is Your Captain Speaking…….”

“I would like to thank Gold Leaf Tobacco and all our other sponsors for taking care of our needs and our families too, that is the reason why some of us are doing what we are doing.

www.dembare.net

“Having a good sponsor also helps players in motivating them. When people have money they are serious about their work

“I have played in South Africa and Zambia and picked a lot of lessons, in terms of career development, but I miss winning the league title. I decided to come back to Dynamos to win those titles.

“To then come back, after attachments outside the country and other teams on the local scene, and be handed the captaincy means the world to me.

“Such appointments, at a great team like Dynamos, come with increased responsibilities and I should state that I am ready for those responsibilities.

“I salute the technical team and the management who decided to give me this huge responsibility.

“I am ready for the challenge and, come the end of the season, we will be celebrating like we used to do back in 2012 and 2013.’’

“It has been long but I knew the very day I left the team that one day I would be back again,’’

“I believe the team has signed some of the most talented players we have in the country at the moment.

‘’You look at Juan Mutudza, Sylvester Appiah, King Nadolo and Tino Chiunye, to name just a few.

“Those guys are talented and it reminds me of the days when I first arrived at the team.

“Most of us were new but you would look at Denver Mukamba, Devon Chafa, Rodreck Mutuma and others and conclude that we were, indeed, bound to write a piece of history.

“That is the same feeling I have at the moment. But, hard work is everything. I have been telling the guys how we used to do extra training back then with amazing results.”

“We are looking forward to a great season. Our main worry is when the league will start.

“We are aware of the Coronavirus. We just hope they find the cure and just put this thing to end for good.

“We actually can’t wait for the season to start.”

Dynamos, Gold Leaf Marriage Extended To Fans

GOOD times continue to roll for Harare giants Dynamos Football Club after their principal sponsor Gold Leaf Tobacco signed a Sales and Distribution Memorandum Of Understanding with the leaders of the club’s fans in Harare yesterday.

www.dembare.net

DeMbare are in the second year of a five-year sponsorship deal with the South African-based tobacco processor through the Rudland & George brand worth ZWL5 million, translating to ZWL1m per year.

The package has since been reviewed upwards to cushion the club from the current inflationary environment.

Gold Leaf Tobacco have been taking care of Dynamos wage bill and all the operational expenses since last year.

This latest deal will see the club supporters playing an active role in pushing sales and raising the market presence of the specific Remington Gold products, one of the Gold Leaf Tobacco brands.

In return the fans are earmarked to benefit a certain percentage of the sales in commission.

Dynamos, as a club, are set to pocket more, in terms of commissions, under this extended agreement where Gold Leaf Tobacco will be selling their Remington Gold products through the club.

Gold Leaf Tobacco company’s representative, Sithabiso Martin said they are happy with their association with the country’s biggest football club and want to see a strong Dynamos emerging again.

“In the last few seasons, it has been disappointing and underwhelming because Dynamos was used to a certain place before, that is at the top. But I am positive because they have now partnered with the right brand.

“We would have loved to host the multitudes of the club’s fans at a larger scale like a stadium, since this is an event for the supporters but due to the current social distancing measures put it place by the government, we could not congregate like that.

“Going forward, we pledge to work well with the Dembare brand together with all the club’s Supporters’ Chapters across the country in pushing both the Dynamos and rebranded Remington Gold brands.

Dynamos Chairman Isaiah Mupfurutsa was naturally elated with the extended agreement and pledged his club’s bid to reposition themselves as the leading football brand on the domestic scene.

“This is a momentous occasion which marks the further strengthening of relations between Dynamos Football Club and our anchor sponsors, Gold Leaf Tobacco Company in Zimbabwe,” said Mupfurutsa.

“We are here to witness the power of football and business’ strategic collaboration, a partnership which shall set the tone for the growth of Zimbabwean football for posterity.’’

“Dynamos Football Club is on a business trajectory and we shall strive to turn the club into a business partner of choice through embracing best practices.

“Poor governance and any other vices now have no place at Dynamos Football Club. We believe that we should be at the front-line in the thrust to embrace professionalism through the FIFA Club Licensing framework.

“We would like to be the champions of best practices in Zimbabwe football, making our club an attractive investment partner.

“The progress we have made to date, in terms of attaining good governance benchmarks, has seen our anchor sponsors increase their support for the club and more partners have begun to show interest in partnering our club, locally and abroad,’’ said Mupfurutsa.

Speaking on behalf of the supporters a member of the Dynamos Supporters Association national executive, Mr Benjamin Munzira thanked the Principal Sponsor for the ground-breaking initiative that is set to involve the fans more in the revolution of the club.

“Dynamos remains a source pride to the faithful 7 million or more supporters across the world. We want to thank Gold Leaf Tobacco for coming up with this initiative to engage the fans of the club.

This sales agreement is a win-win, it finances the club, sponsor and supporter given the huge support base Dynamos has.”

In closing, Munzira assured the players, represented by the club captain, that the fans would rally behind the team in a fervent but peaceful manner this upcoming season,” said Munzira.

Injury Forces Murwira Out Of Dembare Squad

DYNAMOS Football Club has confirmed utility player Godknows Murwira’s time at the club has provisionally come to an end due to a nagging knee injury that has he aggravated in the closing stages of last season.

www.dembare.net

Dynamos assistant coach Gift “Umbro” Muzadzi confirmed Murwira will not be registered for the first half of the 2020 season.

Murwira is an FC Platinum player who joined Dembare in July last season on a one-year loan and was hoping to complete his final six months at Dynamos in Tonderai Ndiraya’s much-changed side.

“Murwira is on the road to recovery from a nasty injury. He is getting better but considering the period he will take to be 100 per cent again, we thought it would be prudent for us not to register him for the first half of the season.

“Murwira is one of our best players and it is unfortunate we won’t have him for the first half of this coming season. But the team’s medical staff is working flat out to make sure he comes back even stronger,” Muzadzi said.

The former Ngezi Platinum Stars player is being haunted by his right knee that he originally inured during his time at Ngezi Platinum Stars and has been a notable absence from the Dynamos’ training sessions including bonding sessions and the Dynamos technical team has decided to give him some bit of time to fully recover.

Dynamos team doctor Robert Musara also spoke on the utility player’s injury.

“Murwira’s injury is a long standing one. It is an injury he suffered way back when he was still at Ngezi.

“He had an accident and the injury has been slowly building up. After we did an MR (Magnetic Resonance) scan on him we stopped him from playing because we did not want to do more damage to it.

“In essence, the player needs specialised medical treatment”

“Murwira can still play but he won’t be at his peak, he won’t be 100 percent fit because of this injury, he will be in pain.

“We have since rested the player because we don’t want to worsen the situation” said Musara.

It remains to be seen whether FC Platinum will effectively recall him when his loan deal expires at the end of June or Dembare will re-engage him, everything obviously dependant on the progress he makes in his battle with the injury.

Murwira is one of 3 senior players who was called upon by Ndiraya as the Harare giants struggled in the middle of last season.

The others, striker Evans Katema is now with Zambian giants Zanaco while the pair of midfielder Archieford Gutu and striker Simba Nhivi have since been offloaded

Muzadzi also shed light on their preparations.

“Our preparations have been going on very well and all the players, save for Murwira, are in an excellent shape. Its unfortunate we will no longer be travelling to Mozambique due to the coronavirus but we are not digressing.

On Saturday, Dynamos played against newly-promoted army side Cranborne Bullets and won 2-nil courtesy of David Temwanjira and Ali Maliselo’s goals.

New-Look Dembare Excites Jaure

www.dembare.net

DYNAMOS defender Partson Jaure is excited with the display of vigour by the new-look side ahead of the start of the 2020 season and has compared it to that of the all-conquering squad that swept four Castle Lager Premier Soccer League titles in a row between 2011 and 2014.

Jaure (30), was a key member of that squad coached by Kalisto Pasuwa in what was a major milestone for the Harare football giants.

His impressive performances saw him signing for South African Premiership side, Pretoria University, where he played for some years before returning home to play for Ngezi Platinum Stars and Manica Diamonds.

The defender – the most experienced member of the current squad has, however, re-joined the Glamour Boys ahead of the forthcoming term and has been impressed by the way the new players have applied themselves thus far.

“I think we have a great group of players who have got the hunger to win trophies. They are enthusiastic and working hard at training,” Jaure said.

“We have a great team that has got great potential to achieve success. It reminds me of the team we had during those years when we won the championship four times in a row.

If we continue to work hard and play more practice games, we can return to those great heights again,” he added.

The Dynamos captain-elect said they had a strong squad which was balanced and hoped they could finally win the league title after enduring frustration of living in the shadows of FC Platinum, who have dominated the domestic soccer scene in the past three years

The Harare football giants have been very active during the transfer window in which they signed several stars, including former TelOne and 2019 Soccer Star of the Year finalist King Nadolo.

Some of the stars that have joined are Jeansmith Mutudza, Sylvester Appiah, Byron Madzokere, David Temwanjira, Barnabas Mushunje, Nkosi Mhlanga, Tanaka Chidhobha, Lennox Mutsetse, Tinotenda Chiunye and goalkeeper Tymon Mvula among others

Last season, Dynamos finished a distant eighth on the final league standings. The club hierarchy, however, said they were rebuilding the side and had reconstructed a side that could win honours.

Dembare Overcome Yadah

DYNAMOS Football Club edged out a battling Yadah Stars 1-0 in a pre-season friendly match played at Yadah Complex this afternoon.

Former ZPC Kariba hitman David Temwanjira scored the solitary goal for the Boys In Blue.

Ironically Dynamos were clad in a yellow training kit with blue stripes.

This is the second victory for Dynamos this pre-season after beating Simba Bhora 2-nil last week at Hellenics Sports Club.

Dembare used a red training kit then.

Biggie Zuze was in charge of the Glamour Boys as coach Tonderai Ndiraya is away in Belgium on a 2-week attachment.

Sixteen players took part in the match for Dynamos and these were;

Tymon Mvula, Munyaradzi Diya, Lennox Mutsetse, Barnabas Mushunje, Ngandu Mangala, Tawanda Chisi, Kudzanai Dhemere, Emmanuel Jalai, Byron Madzokere, Nkosi Mlanga, Sylvester Appiah, Tinotenda Muringai, Ali Joseph Maliselo, Tanaka Chidhobha, Juan Mutudza and David Temwanjira.

Dynamos immediately returned to Marondera where they are camped as they intensify preparations for the upcoming season.

Nadolo Happy To Be Back Home

DYNAMOS FC newboy King Nadolo, says he is looking forward to a fruitful career after completing his move to his childhood team last week.

The Soccer Star Of The Year finalist is the latest recruit unveiled by the Harare giants in their shopping spree that has seen the club signing 13 players ahead of the start of the new season.

“I am happy, I look forward to a fruitful season with Dynamos,” said Nadolo.

“My hope and prayer is to contribute positively to the overall objectives of the club.

“This means I have to train hard and push myself harder. It’s easier to achieve career goals with a big club like Dynamos,” said Nadolo.

The 24-year old had a fairytale outing in the Castle Lager Premiership last year when he joined relegated side TelOne during the mid-season.

He had been linked with various clubs during pre-season, among them champions FC Platinum, Ngezi Platinum, CAPS United, Chicken Inn and his former club Highlanders.

But, on Friday, he chose Dynamos, a club that gave him the foundation to build his football career between 2008 and 2009.

Nadolo, who played in the Glamour Boys juniors just over a decade ago, severed links with DeMbare when he relocated to South Africa where he completed his high school.

He played schoolboy football in South Africa and when he returned home in 2014 he joined DeMbare’s rivals Highlanders.

But he packed his bags again and resurfaced at Witbank Spurs, who were playing in the lower rungs of South African football.

Keen to resuscitate his career, Nadolo signed for Castle Lager Premiership side TelOne mid-season last year and made an immediate impact by contributing vital goals and assists.

Although the side failed to survive relegation, his individual performances still earned him a place on the Soccer Star of the Year calendar.

He was also chosen by fellow players to win the FUZ Footballer of the Month award in November 2019.
Despite playing half the season, he finished third in the Golden Boot race with 11 goals, three behind the winner Clive Augusto. Nadolo also had five assists for TelOne.

DeMbare spokesperson, Tinashe Farawo, yesterday said their aim was to make the Harare giants competitive again.

The Glamour Boys last won the league title in 2014 when Callisto Pasuwa led them to four consecutive championships.

DeMbare have signed players for almost all the positions.

They have roped in their former defender Partson Jaure, the ex-ZPC Kariba duo of Tinotenda Chiunye and Sylvester Appiah, goalkeeper Taimon Mvula, Juan Mutudza, Byron Madzokere, Nkosi Mhlanga, Barnabas Mushunje, David Temwanjira, and rookies Lennox Mutsetse and Tanaka Chidhobha.

“Our aim is to make sure that we have a team that will be able to compete in the Castle Lager Premiership.

“But the overall goal is one day to return to the CAF Champions League so we are working hand in hand with the coach.

“He (coach Tonderai Ndiraya) has his shopping list and the management is working round the clock to fulfil its mandate by providing the resources that are needed.

“So, as long as it is within our means, we will do our best to buy the quality that the coaches want,” said Farawo.

Dembare Announce Ambitious Plans

DYNAMOS Football Club have announced ambitious plans to sign twinning arrangements with some of the continent’s big teams when the team leaves for South Africa for pre-season warm-up matches soon.

The Dynamos Executive led by ZimParks boss Tinashe Farawo has been on a charm offensive lately taking the team on a professional path that has warmed the hearts of fans and neutrals alike.

They have so far done most of their transfer business early in the year, signing 14 players, something that used to be alien to Dembare.

They have already taken the players to Lake Chivero for one of periodic camps for ideal orientation to the team’s principles and their general bonding.

Now the Boys In Blue are scheduled to tour South Africa where they are billed to play high-profile friendly matches with both top-flight and lower division clubs from that country.

Farawo says plans are at an advanced stage for the tour to South Africa as well as other countries within the region before the 2020 season commences.

“We are a club that should be setting examples. We are saying the way we played in 2019 was not acceptable to our brand.”

“We are following the technical team’s recommendations that is why we have signed all those players. We work together very well and as a team.”

“We are well geared for the 2020 season where we will be back at our best. We are holding several camps in the country’s resorts and next week we will continue with those bonding camps in Shamva.”

“Of course, we will tour several countries in the region including South Africa this pre-season.Plans for the team to go to South Africa for a pre-season camp where we will play practice matches against both top-flight and lower division teams in that country are advanced.”

Farawo said the Glamour Boys will sign partnership agreements with some of the region’s big teams which will see the country’s biggest and most successful team exchanging notes and personnel with those clubs.

“The idea is to make Dynamos a big entity. So we are strategising on how we will go about it.”

“There are teams in the region, including of course in South Africa, which we are talking to at the moment. We will partner some and twin with others. Football needs modern strategies and that is one of the ways to go.”

“We believe our brand is big and by partnering other big brands in the region, we will make it even bigger. Of course, we will eventually make better engagements with other teams in leagues across the globe. But we have to start within our Southern Africa region.”

Huge Duduza Banner At Hilal Match

Outgoing Dynamos striker Edward Sadomba continued to be honoured in Sudan after fans hoisted a huge picture of him in the stands during their final Champions League match against Al-Ahly at the Al-Hilal Stadium last night.

The match ended 1-all.

Al-Hilal just missed making the quarter finals by just a single point and exited the continental tourney together with FC Platinum, while Etoile Sahel and Al-Ahly made it through.

Sadomba, who lived up to his promise to return and play for Dembare one more time, spent four years in Sudan playing for Al-Hilal and banged in 98 goals in 90 appearances.

In the process, he won four league titles, three Sudan League Cups with the Sudanese giants.

He also clinched both the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup Golden Boots during his time there.

The club recently honoured the 36-year old when they came to Zimbabwe to play FC Platinum last Saturday at Barbourfields Stadium.

They made him their guest of honour of their travelling entourage.

Yesterday, even with Sadomba 5000 km away in Harare, the Al-Hilal fans continued showing their love for Duduza by hoisting a huge picture of the striker at the famous Eastern Stand in Hilal colours.

In December last year, the outgoing Dynamos skipper was again feted like a king by the United Arab Emirates Chapter of the Al Hilal fans.

Sadomba and his wife Sherlynn travelled to the United Arab Emirates upon invitation of the UAE chapter.

Duduza was presented with a certificate and a gift voucher worth US$1 000.

The chairman of the Al Hilal fans, Monasir Gamblan, who is based in the United States, flew to Dubai to grace the occasion.

He further rewarded the former star with a trip voucher to Washington DC early next year.

Sadomba himself is humbled by the love shown all the way from Omdurman and has only kind words for Al-Hilal.

“It was a privilege to play for a big institution such as Al Hilal. I really appreciate what the club did for me and what they continually do for me. They really know how to treat players. That is how players perform well.”

“The treatment and appreciation in Sudan is so wonderful, it was difficult to walk alone without a bodyguard. The fans are so amazing. Overall, the Sudanese people are wonderful,’’ Sadomba said.
